Activities

CGA’s key mission is to work for the benefit of the gas industry’s professional interests and needs; help to raise its levels of expertise; facilitate the transmission of gas industry information; and represent the Czech gas industry at the international level.

To achieve these objectives the Czech Gas Association:

  • Plays an integrating role in the industry and offers a broad forum for exchanges of information and experience of its members and other professional entities;
  • Represents the Czech gas industry in the International Gas Union and plays a proactive part in IGU activities; CGA is also a member of, or actively cooperates with, other international and European non-governmental organisations (ENGVA, MARCOGAZ, etc.);
  • Represents the Czech gas industry in the drafting of international and national legal and technical regulations; it is a partner of the Czech Standards Institute in the harmonisation of the national technical legislation with the relevant EU regulations;
  • Manages the development of technical regulations for the Czech gas industry;
  • Facilitates the transfer of information from the European and global gas industry, and presents it at conferences, workshops, and seminars;
  • Supports activities geared towards enhancing the image of natural gas as an effective and environmentally-friendly fuel;
  • Publishes the only Czech trade press title for the gas industry, the Plyn [Gas] monthly, which is globally monitored in Chemical Abstracts.

CGA is the sole owner of GAS s.r.o., which became a servicing company for CGA and its corporate members on 1 January 2006. GAS, s.r.o. provides the associations’ corporate members and other organisations with specialist services on a commercial basis, mainly in the following four areas:

  • Certification and registration of products and organisations; advice on technical matters;
  • Publishing: The company publishes, distributes, and sells technical regulations and standards;
  • It organises conferences, workshops, and colloquia in the gas sector;
  • Education for gas experts, training courses.
